Entered Apprentice

Last night, I attended the Entered Apprentice initiation of a close friend of mine at Tomball Masonic Lodge #1096 A.F. & A.M. (est. 1914). It has been six years since I stood as a candidate and the memories rushed back as he completed his tasks. I wouldn’t change places with him right now though, he has a lot of work to do on his path to receiving full rights. He asked me many questions prior to his ceremony of which I answered what I could and didn’t what I couldn’t…my advice to him was to “wear clean underwear”….(for all conspiracy theorists…that is just a joke that I play on candidates). As a first time visitor to the Tomball Lodge, I was welcomed and made to feel welcome by all. That is one of the benefits of being a Master, almost anywhere in the world, you can find a brother, a friend and support in any time of need. There is no fraternity like our fraternity and I am proud to be a member in good standing. I can’t wait until my five boys are of legal age (21 in Texas) to follow the path as well. I am the first in my family to wear the lambskin and hope that they will want to as well. As for my friend, his journey has just started….good luck….keep your ears open.

  1. It is good to see the website, I am learning my EA work currently. My brain is swollen after each session of learning. Perhaps your sons would enjoy DeMolay. I really enjoyed it as a youth and teen and can contribute a great deal of my success in life to the leadership and public speakin I was taught. Pasadena Lodge #1155. DeMolay and now Masonic.

  2. It is so good to read this post! I was raised at the tender age of 25 and am now 35 (old man). We have begun raising alot of Masons in Connecticut (you have to go back to just after WWII to find a similar number of petitions) and most of them are in their 20’s and 30’s. I hope a similar thing is happening in Texas!

  3. I am going through the learning proccess and it has been rewarding. There is a lot to learn in the first section.

  4. You are just getting started…what you learn in the first section will carry you through the next degrees. It will get easier and more amazing from here. Enjoy the ceremonies…it will be even better once you are brought to the light.
