Ordie Navy Traditions (Hazing to you people)

Pinkbelly = A time honored tradition…basically a welcome package presented to a new member of your shop. Usually performed during General Quarters when there is no means of escape. The preferred location of the pinkbelly would be in the magazine where the screams could not be heard by anyone but us Magrats. The best stategy if you are the unfortunate recipient is to just give in and take it like a man. Those who stuggle sometimes gets the CATSHOT.

Catshot = A special form of pinkbelly. Someone holds your arm in tension before delivering the blow to the (about to be pink) belly.

Molly B / 20MM = Reserved for those SHIPMATES that have warranted wrath. I cannot describe what goes on here. Many careers have been ruined due to an errant Molly B episode. You don’t want to know.

Ordie Tape: Usually involves some OTHER Rate talking trash and making the unfortunate mistake of actually walking INTO the Ordie shop. Not wise to do if it is an A-6 Intruder shop. The offending member finds himself quickly overtaken and Ordie-taped to the bulkhead, a chair, the deck or to the overhead. A Molly B or Pinkbelly is the natural progression in this instance. Or if the Div O shows up and he needs the space for a meeting, which usually means you just stay taped up until we get back.

Tacking the Crow: My personal favorite. I have my own style. It leaves you with nice YELLOW bruised banana type bruises. Only senior to junior tacking allowed. Innovations: AO1 Bedwell used to drape your arm over a fuel tank. He was as stupid as they come but he gets extra credit for that one. You only get one shot when tacking on the crow, you miss and that’s it. Caveat: You better make sure that the owner of the crow you just blasted doesn’t pass you in advancement. Payback is swift and cruel.

Shellback Initiation: Not just an Ordie thing. Dates back FOREVER. The transition from WOG to Shellback is magical. The Rooster crossed at Longitude 046 degrees 01.65 on 1st day of December 1993. Man…the Royal Baby had a deep bellybutton…
