Illustrated by Cameron Singleton
When I first read Kathy’s ”Icing in the Middle”…I thought “Wow! This is a great story!” My reaction wasn’t just a courtesy (she is my sister-in-law) but my natural response to what I think is a perfect story for anyone whether they are the first, middle or even the baby of the family. Cameron’s illustrations are wonderfully balanced between analogy and metaphor painting the picture of the true story of Riley and her being the “Icing in the Middle”. (Note: Riley and Cameron are high school sweethearts….awwwww)
Being the last born from a family where our age differences render any birth order issues moot, “Icing in the Middle” made me WANT to be the middle child just so I could have this story for my very own. This book would be the perfect birthday or Christmas present for friends or family expecting their own middle child or for a big brother or sister wanting to say “I’m sorry” and “I love you” for any transgressions toward their younger siblings. “Icing in the Middle” says all of that and more…a perfect gift for your Icing or your oreo’s…all that is left to do now is open the bag: LULU details: http://www.lulu.com/content/2240963
